    The quality of human capital is the locomotive of economic growth. Higher education is the determinant factor to ensure the training of human capital. This article highlights the role of higher education in human capital training. The indicators characterizing the higher education in the Republic of Moldova are examined, and a comparative analysis of these indicators with Romania and the EU-28 is being carried out. The main challenges faced by Moldovan higher education are the need to adjust to the labor market demand, the demographic situation and migration.
