According to the census of the Republic of Moldova in 2004, over 16% of family
were single parent families. Parent family is treated as deviation on complete family because
it does not satisfies all social functions. Legislation of Moldova on social protection status
does not establish a single mother or single parent. Social protection for all families with
children is based on the principle of social equality.
