Challenges in balancing family and professional life by parents with preschool children

Abstract

In today’s society full of responsibilities and commitments, the balance between work and family has become a predominant problem. Difficulties in maintaining the balance between professional and family life are determined mostly by reduced care facilities and the children's education, the monitoring system of children's education being undeveloped. The article is elaborated based on a sociological study "The parents between the necessity of work and family responsibilities." (1047 questionnaires with mothers having children of pre-school age, 20 sociological interviews, conducted by CCD of NIER. The results of the studies highlight that parents deal with difficulties in establishing and maintaining the balance between numerous requests of family and professional life. Family reconciliation measures between work and family are still underdeveloped and many mothers confront work conditions that don't allow them to balance work and professional responsibilities.
