Corelația dintre oferta educațională și cererea de competențe pe domeniul tehnologiilor informației și comunicației

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technologies has increased the demand for workforce with advanced ICT skills. The Republic of Moldova aspires to join the European Union and align with the trends of digitalization, which will expand the opportunities for the free movement of human capital. In this context, increasing the educational offer in ICT is one of the priorities of the authorities. On the other hand, six out of ten employers in Moldova are facing a shortage of qualified staff, and the ICT sector is in the greatest need of workforce, with plans to create 775 new jobs in this field. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between the educational offer and the demand for ICT skills in the Republic of Moldova. The research used the method of dynamic analysis of statistical indicators on education, but also the analysis of programs, studies and forecasts on skills, developed by the responsible authorities in the country. The empirical analysis carried out was based on the data of the National Bureau of Statistics and the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova, as well as on the reports of international organizations. As a result, it was established that in the labor market of our country there is a shortage of specialists in the field of ICT, the demand exceeding the supply of skills in this field. The main problems that make it difficult to align skills to the demands of the labor market in our country are related to the educational system that does not meet the demand on the labor market and the weak strategic collaboration between the key actors involved in the process.
