Diferențele economice și sociale în Romania

Abstract

The paper investigates the dynamics of territorial development and social gaps in Romania, with focus on the post-accession changes. A framework of analysis comprising integrating (complex) and simple indicators is employed, with emphasis on territorial competitiveness, labor market and business environment developments, education, R&D and infrastructure. The results reveal the persistence of significant territorial gaps and the consolidation of a three-layered development model (engine, catching-up and slow-followers), both at national and regional level.
