Abstract

Setting targets and monitoring progress in achieving them through specific indicators are typical characteristics of a strategic management approach. The close link between objectives and monitoring indicators allow a new approach, such as strategic management, sustainable development, more planning appropriate than rigid type approach, which proved, moreover, ineffective. Development indicators to monitor progress on long-term direction objectives, is an indispensable tool for those who set strategy and policy development and information while allowing the general public about the achievements, failures or compromises made with the dynamic process of sustainable development.
