Abstract

Both the theory of public management and the one of leadership are the relatively recent in specialized literature, representing modern concepts in management science. Romania's public administration reform is a profound, complex process, recent and in full progress, inclusively aiming the modernization of the managerial tools available to leaders of and from public institutions. In this context, there is a search for the most appropriate solutions to increase the quality of administration, also its effectiveness and efficiency. Given that women represent a large majority of the human resources in the Romanian administration, this article puts the question of the extent to which the feminine style of leadership could address the reform objectives. The article gives an analysis of the female leadership characteristics compared to men, and the results are encouraging: women have a greater ability to mobilize the people involved in the administration to achieve the objectives.
