Greenwashing is the practice of companies that are practising the promotion of false or exaggerated images of environmental responsibility, thus affecting consumer trust and purchasing decisions. The food industry is a sector particularly susceptible to this phenomenon, due to the emphasis on “eco” products and aggressive green marketing.
