    International trade strongly influences the level of development of the states' economy. Therefore, for the economy's sustainable growth and the Customs Service's continuous development, it is necessary to reduce the time required for customs clearance and accelerate the traffic of goods. This goal can be achieved by identifying the effective organizational structure and introducing beneficial experiences within the national customs administration. At the same time, developing and adapting information technologies to the needs of the Customs Service is beneficial. In this article, there is a comparison of the efficiency of the Customs Services of different states based on the time required to carry out the export procedures to identify the factors necessary to improve the activity of the Customs Service in the future.

    Competitiveness of Moldova’s Agri-food Trade: Challenges and Perspectives

    One of the conditions for increasing the competitiveness of the national economy of Moldova is the promotion of the export of competitive goods. Considering that the Republic of Moldova is mainly relying on its agri-food sector, and it was granted the status of a candidate country for accession to the European Union, the object of research is the Competitiveness of Moldova’s Agrifood Trade. The principal purpose of this study is to determine the directions for modernizing the structure of the agri-food complex to increase its competitiveness in the context of deepening the integration processes in the European space. The authors assessed the trends and prospects for the trade of food products and agricultural raw materials between Moldova and European Union countries. In this aim statistical and econometric methods were applied. The results of the study showed that a promising direction in the development of economic relations between Moldova and the European Union was the formation of clusters with a high potential for competitiveness. For a better integration into the European food products market with minimal loss, there is a strong need in establishing direct economic links and implementation of joint investment projects.

    Streamlining the foreign trade policy of the Republic of Moldova

    The Republic of Moldova faced two shocks in 2020: the drought, which led to a decrease in crop production by more than a third, and the spread of the virus that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARSCoV-2), which led to lockdowns, temporary suspension of the activities of enterprises and organizations. In this situation, the main task facing the state is sustainable economic growth. Thus, the improvement of foreign trade policy is relevant, since the development of economic relations with other countries, an increase in the export potential of the national economy will ensure stable economic growth. The primary goal of this study is to improve the foreign trade policy of the Republic of Moldova. The main methods used are statistical research method, a systematic approach, an abstract-logical research method, etc. As a result of the study, the main and specific objectives were developed that need to be included in government programs and strategies aimed at promoting exports, developing trade and economic relationship.
