(INCE, 2018) Betivu, Danaia; Colesnic, Olga
After the decline of the trade and transport function, many European rivers have been abandoned. In the late 1940s, the British rivers and channels and the Canal du Midi takes on a new tourism function. The tourist valorization phenomenon extends to several European countries, especially on the Rhine-Danube axis, in the 1980s and 1990s, standing out an alternative form of tourism – tourism river. The tourist attractiveness given by tourism demand is essential in the development of any form of tourism. This article aims to study the demand for river tourism in the European Union and calculate forecasts. Data and methods. The study is based on the data of the CCNR (Central European Commission for the Navigation of the Rhine), Viadonau, VNF (Voies navigables de France) yearbooks, the studies commissioned by the European Parliament on cycling in the EU, the Giaccardi & Associates, British Waterways and IG Rivercruises studies. We'll use the Maximum Probability Method (MLE) to calculate the forecasts. The results of the study show that river tourism demand is concentrated in the Western Europe. The main activities of EU river tourism are the river cruises and trips. The calculated forecasts show that the river cruises demand will increase over the next 5 years in the classical destinations and the river trips demand will have a steady evolution.

Importanţa economică a turismului în Republica Moldova
(INCE, 2015) Betivu, Danaia; Colesnic, Olga
