Item Economic and technological aspects regarding the cultivation of blueberries in the conditions of the Republic of Moldova(USAMV, 2023) Turetchi, Viorel; Turetchi, TatianaCultivation of blueberries is an entrepreneurial activity recently approached by local farmers, a business with a fairly high economic potential. The nutritional and economic value of this crop fuels an active interest for both consumers and local producers. However, blueberry cultivation represents a risky challenge for potential domestic producers. This fact is conditioned, mainly, by the local natural factors that are unsuitable for the development and fruiting of the blueberry, respectively, for the creation of conditions similar to the natural habitat of the blueberry, considerable investments are required. The aim of the paper is to present a series of calculations proving that blueberry cultivation represents a profitable business in Moldova. The used methodology is based on comparative, analytical methods, and financial indicators that prove the business profitability. With a thorough elaboration of the whole business process, with all the calculations and analysis of the estimated results, as well as the exact forecasting of the risks and the impact, the cultivation and production of blueberries in the conditions of our country can become a successful business.Item The interconnection model between the Republic of Moldova's food security and its agricultural products export(USAMV, 2023) Stratan, Alexandru; Lopotenco, Viorica; Lucasenco, EugeniaThe main objective of this study is to analyze the food security resilience of the Republic of Moldova. For this reason, it is essential to establish the interconnections between food security and foreign trade of the Republic of Moldova in the actual circumstances on the external market. On the one hand, agricultural economic agents faced the loss of traditional export markets. The most vulnerable category in this regard is 08. Edible fruits and nuts; peels of citrus fruits or melons, which in 2021 constituted 7.40% of the total exports. About 52.15% of the export of this category was directed in 2021 in Russian Federation. On the other hand, the increase in the prices of agri-food products has intensified the risks of excessive growth of exports and their potential insufficiency for consumption on the domestic market. In conclusion, it is highlighted that the situation in the region of our country generates vulnerabilities with a substantial impact on food security.Item Greening policies for the agricultural sector of the Republic of Moldova: current situation and future perspectives(USAMV, 2023) Stratan, Alexandru; Ceban, Alexandru; Lucasenco, EugeniaAgricultural sector of the Republic of Moldova is currently facing a series of challenges, an important part of them being related to the greening of the sector. The existing public support schemes for greening agriculture are more related to mitigation of the climate change effects, with less focus on preserving the environment, and their share in the total public support is relatively low. The paper aims to analyze the existing public support schemes related to climate change adaptation and greening of sector and provide a series of recommendations for their improvement. In order to achieve the main aim of the paper, the following scientific methods have been used: generalization of empirical and applied material, induction and deduction methods for making the paper conclusions, comparison method and analytical one. In order to be in line with current greening EU policies, Republic of Moldova must adapt some of its public support schemes for the agricultural sector and pay more attention to development of a coordinative mechanism and advice services.Item Profitability of production of table grapes in Republic of Moldova(USAMV, 2023) Iatisin, Tatiana; Ceban, Mihail; Timus, AngelaViticulture for table grapes is a branch of the agro-industrial complex, which possesses high adaptability to environmental conditions, relatively simple care and high economic efficiency, etc. For each economic agent, economic efficiency expresses the need for existing factors of production to be used under conditions of economic rationality, which means that unlimited needs are satisfied with increasingly limited resources throughout the economy. This paper presents the economic efficiency of table grape production. We can state that any economic activity must produce useful and qualitatively superior effects, satisfying the principle of rationality applied to the present time and to the future, thus ensuring the prerequisites for future efficiency. The research was carried out on the basis of data from the National Bureau of Statistics and reports from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, using methods of analysis, synthesis, tabulation and graphics. The vitivinicultural sector is and will remain an important one for the Republic of Moldova. High-quality grapes and wine are the calling card of our country, recognized internationally. Dynamically, in the years 2010-2018, the viticultural sector registered an average annual increase of 6.2% - the productivity of the vineyard per fruiting; 8.4% - the harvest of table grapes; 7.1% - export of table grapes.Item Cooperation for Innovation: Opportunities and Challenges for SMEs (The Case of the Republic of Moldova)(LUMEN Publishing, 2020) Stratan, Alexandru; Novac, Alexandra; Vinogradova, NataliaIn the contemporary economy, the sustainable growth of the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can be ensured provided that innovations are implemented in enterprises. The innovative potential of enterprises can be raised through various methods, including cooperation with other enterprises and researchers. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the innovation activity of SMEs in the Republic of Moldova and identify opportunities and barriers to cooperation of SMEs with other enterprises and research institutions in the Republic of Moldova in order to develop and/or implement innovations. The results of the research showed that in the Republic of Moldova, SMEs are quite reluctant and passive in cooperating with other companies and research institutions to implement innovations. Moreover, for the most part, Moldovan SMEs are not aware of the need to implement innovations based on research results, but researchers - of the need to market their results.Item Pădurile Moldovei – principala sursă energetică autohtonă a economiei naţionale(2012) Bajura, TudorÎn legătură cu scumpirea permanentă şi cu ritmuri exagerate a surselor energetice importate devine tot mai accentuată problema asigurării securităţii energetice a Republicii Moldova. Drept consecinţă, alături de formele tradiţionale ale acestor surse, tot mai necesară devine utilizarea (cu implicarea tehnologiilor noi) a surselor alternative de energie. Sunt propuse de a fi revitalizate capacităţile anterior edificate a încălzirii caselor de locuit, mai ales în spaţiul rural, cu instalaţii moderne de încălzire în baza lemnului de foc, peletelor, brichetelor etc. Din punctul organizatoric se recomandă iniţierea unui scenariu masiv de privatizare a pădurilor şi revitalizarea pieţei autohtone a combustibilului solid.Item Cross-cooperation sectors between the Republic Macedonia and the Republic of Moldova: comparative analysis(2018) Trendov, Nikola; Stratan, Alexandru; Stratan, Dumitru; Perciun, Rodica; Tirigan, SergiuThis research aims to asses the rural development perspectives and strategic sectors in Republic Macedonia and Republic of Moldova that can be considered cooperation sectors between the countries. Also, the research will serve as a handbook map for new created and existing LAGs or associative groups aiming to cooperate with other regional partners. A Local Action Group is a non profit-making structure formed of public and private organizations, especially from rural villages, from different socio-economic sectors. Through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), LAGs can apply for financial assistance in the form of grants to implement the Local Development Strategy of their respective territory. Agriculture is important segment of Macedonian economy, as it impacts the economy significantly, by contributing with around 11.4% in total Gross Value Added (GVA). In addition to this, the agricultural sector is important for reducing unemployment rates and it provides employment for about 17.9% of the population. In the Republic of Moldova, agriculture continue to remain an important sector of economy. Even if declining, it is accounting for 12,2% of GDP in the year 2017. Food Industry accounts for more than 30% of the manufacturing, and it is contributing to other sectors such as transport, trade, financial and insurance activity. Main characteristic of the Macedonian and Moldavian agriculture is its dual structure. This means that small farms are most common and dominating the sector. Almost of the holding operate on land less than one hectare. However, these is high level of land fragmentation. In both countries, agricultural policy development is constructed as an adjustment towards the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union. The process of EU integration resulted with positive changes in terms of better institutional capacities and legislation. Main goals of the national agricultural policies are the CAP objective and at the time this is the national agricultural strategies. In order to achieve these objectives, there has been introduced increased budget, along with systemic establishment of policy through set of laws, strategies, programs and long-term plans.Item Current state, obstacles and opportunities for the development of the Champignon mushroom production industry in the Republic of Moldova(INCE, 2022) Turetchi, ViorelDue to their nutritional and economic value, champignon mushrooms are appreciated by both consumers and domestic agricultural entrepreneurs. The ability of this culture to provide up to five - six harvests during the year, the constant demand on the local market for the given product, reflects, at first sight, guaranteed economic successes for potential mushroom producers. However, the specifics of the local market, as well as the technical and material conditions available for carrying out the production process in the conditions of the Republic of Moldova, carry a series of risks that can seriously compromise the success of the given business. The purpose of this work is to confirm the economic advantage of producing champignon mushrooms in the conditions of our country, to reflect the necessary technological measures to be implemented, the risks that may arise in the production process. General research methods (empirical and theoretical methods) were used in the preparation of the report, the analysis of statistical data reflecting the dynamics of the foreign and local markets was widely applied. The report presents both the analysis of the statistical data and the derived conclusions, and the effects are interpreted through the lens of promoting agricultural products with a high economic value. The results of the report present the dynamics of the local mushroom production sector, development opportunities and measures to make the field more efficient.Item Public support to agricultural producers in the Republic of Moldova – trends and recommendations(INCE, 2022) Lucasenco, EugeniaAgricultural sector of the Republic of Moldova represents an important generator of working places, having an about 10% share in GDP, while the exports of agri-food products have a share of over 40% of the total exported goods of the country. Therefore, the public support to agricultural producers engaged in the production and marketing of agri-food products is of particular importance for the development and enhancement of competitiveness of the sector. The paper aims to provide an analysis of the main post-investment measures subsidized during the period 2010 –2019. The research methods used for this purpose is the analytical, comparative and descriptive, being focused on study and compilation of reports of the Agency of Intervention and Payments in Agriculture. The use of these methods allowed to develop an analysis on the recent trends in public support in relation to post-investment subsidies and provide a series of recommendations.Item Food security policies in the Republic of Moldova(Tehnopress, 2010) Moroz, Victor; Ignat, Anatolie
