Item Analysis of the agri-food external trade of the Republic of Moldova by regional country groups(Artifex, 2022) Lucasenco, Eugenia; Ceban, AlexandruThe aim of the paper is to analyze the recent changes in the agri-food trade of the Republic of Moldova, with an emphasis on the regional country groups: EU, CIS and other countries. With the purpose to carry out the analysis, the comparative, analysis and synthesisi research methods have been used, with the main data source related to national statistics on trade provided by the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova. As a result, changes in the trade patterns have been observed, with a reorientation of Moldovan agri-food exports from CIS countries to EU ones, as a result of the implementation of DCFTA in the Republic of Moldova.Item Development of the food sector in the Republic of Moldova(Transilvania University Press, 2015) Stratan, Alexandru; Moroz, Victor; Ignat, Anatolie; Lucasenco, EugeniaThe food sector of the Republic of Moldova has undergone significant changesin the past decades. Food processing companies and large scale collective and state farmshave been privatized, markets were liberalized, and economies have been integrated intothe global food systems. As a result of liberalization and privatization processes, the state-controlled vertical integration in the agri-food industry had collapse.Latter on, private vertical coordination systems have emerged and started to grow rapidlyas a response to consumer demand for food quality and safety on the one hand and thefarms’ production constraints caused by factor market imperfection on the other. The maindrivers of the integration processes are private business operators and traders. However,the efficiency of the newly emerged food value chains is still low. This investigation wasbased on analysis of the official statistical data, qualitative and quantitative studies andother relevant publications. A significant part of analysis was done in the framework of theFP7 project “AGRICISTRADE”. An agreement on the creation of a free trade area in the CIS was signed in this period. Similarly, Republic of Moldova started negotiating the Association Agreement with the European Union, which was signed in June this year and is part of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA). This article aims to assess the main effects of signing the Association Agreement for the Moldovan agricultural sector, while examining its reaction, if Moldova would have opted fo integration within the Customs Union - Russian Federation, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.Item Moldovan agri-food trade under the infulence of integration processes.(University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest - Faculty of Management, Economic Engineering in Agriculture and Rural Development, 2014) Stratan, AlexandruThe paper aims at the assessment of the main effects of signing the Association Agreement on the Moldovan agricultural sector, while examining its reaction, if the Republic of Moldova would have opted for its integration in the Customs Union - Russian Federation, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. During the period 2010-2013, Republic of Moldova launched a number of trade policy development initiatives in order to ensure a more facilitating legal framework for the economic and trade relations with the key external partners. An agreement on the establishment of a free trade area in the CIS was signed in this period. Similarly, Republic of Moldova started negotiating the Association Agreement with the European Union, which was signed in June this year and has as component part the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA). Astfel, a fost semnat Acordul privind crearea Zonei de liber schimb în cadrul CSI. La fel, Republica Moldova a început negocierea Acordului de Asociere cu ţările Uniunii Europene, care a fost parafat în luna noiembrie 2013 şi semnat în iunie 2014 şi are ca parte componentă obligatorie Acordului de Liber Schimb Aprofundat şi Cuprinzător (ALSAC). Acest articol are ca scop evaluarea principalelor efecte pe care le-ar putea avea semnarea Acordului de Asociere asupra sectorului agricol moldovenesc, examinând totodată reacţia acestuia, în cazul în care Republica Moldova ar fi optat pentru integrarea sa în cadrul Uniunii Vamale – Federaţia Rusă, Belarus, Kazahstan.Item Support policies for agri-food export promotion in the Republic of Moldova.(Research Institute for Agricultural Economy and Rural Development, 2015) Stratan, Alexandru; Ignat, Anatolie; Moroz, VictorAgri-food trade has expanded over the recent decade in the Republic of Moldova. Trade policies promoted by the Republic of Moldova are mostly oriented towards product diversification, knowledge transfer and promotion of new competitive goods with high added value for domestic and foreign markets. The trade balance remains dynamic with significant fluctuations in product categories over time and countries of destination, due to climatic and trade shocks. In this context, the aim of the paper is to provide an analysis of agri-food sector and external trade, assess the impact of external factors over the national economy and opportunities for the better export targeting, and identify possible solutions to increase resilience to agro-food foreign trade shocks. For such tasks were used the statistical methods of analysis and informal interviews with main stakeholders.
